This article describes the process for submitting tax exemption certificates in order to make tax exempt purchases through Proxibid to auction houses utilizing atgPay. Making a Tax Exempt Purchase
Proxibid collects and remits taxes as required by law in many countries and states. If you are purchasing something for a tax-exempt organization, or the type of item is tax-exempt in your country or state, please follow the steps below. Certificates will need to be each time a purchase is made from an even using atgPay.
- On the Bidder Checkout page, there is a Tax Exempt? link next to the Sales Tax line item on the order summary.
- Clicking this link will open a dialog box instructing you to "Add Certificates" if you believe you are tax exempt for this invoice.
- Clicking Add Certificate will auto-create a message to payments@proxibid.com that pre-populates key information including your Bidder Username, Auction ID, Auction House, etc. and requests that you attach the certificate/proof as a PDF or JPG.
- Proxibid's Payment Operations team will review the certificate/proof, amend the invoice as necessary, and provide an updated invoice to you within two (2) business days. Please note that tax exemption certificates are stored securely. For information on Sales Tax refunds, see atgPay: Sales Tax.

Coming Soon: Proxibid are developing features so you can add your tax exemption certificate(s) to your MyProxibid account, and for exemptions to automatically applied during the invoicing process, when you checkout using atgPay. Until this is released, tax exemptions will need to be submitted to payments@proxibid.com for each winning invoice.

Acceptable Tax Exemption Forms
In order to make a tax-exempt purchase, you must provide a valid certificate for the state where the item will be shipped.
Many states have their own certificates that are available online. Certain states permit the use of multi-jurisdiction tax exemption forms like a Streamlined Sales Tax Certificate of Exemption form from the Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board or a Uniform Sales & Use Tax Exemption/Resale Certificate from the Multistate Tax Commission.
