This article provides information relating to shipping options available for purchases made on Proxibid from auction events using atgPay. Shipping Methods
Auctioneers can provide Proxibid buyers with four possible shipping options:
- Free Local pickup: The bidder agrees to collect all items directly- whether that be from the sale location, the auction house, or the address where the lot is being stored- in accordance with the event's Terms of Sale. Shipping fees will not be charged by the auction house when this shipping option is selected.
- Self-Arranged Shipping- Common Carrier: The bidder agrees to arrange shipping via a common third-party shipping service, such as DHL, FedEx or Truckline. To make any specific shipping arrangements, or to ask any specific shipping questions, please contact the auction house directly. Shipping fees will not be charged by the auction house when this shipping option is selected.
- Self-Arranged Shipping- Private Carrier: The bidder agrees to arrange shipping via either a task service, such as TaskRabbit or a hired individual. To make any specific shipping arrangements, or to ask any specific shipping questions, please contact the auction house directly. Shipping fees will not be charged by the auction house when this shipping option is selected.
- Arranged By Auction House: The auction house will ship the items to the winning bidding. Shipping fees will be automatically calculated and included at checkout.
The Terms of Sale should be read thoroughly prior to placing a bid in any event on Proxibid. By placing a bid, bidders are agreeing to the auction house's Terms of Sale.
Selecting a Shipping Method
If an auction house is offering multiple shipping methods, bidders will be able to select which shipping method they'd prefer during checkout.
To select a Shipping Method, click the Change link to the right of the current Shipping Method on the checkout page.
A list of Shipping Methods will appear, based on the options being offered by the seller for the auction event. Select the desired shipping method and then click the Save Changes button. Taxes and fees will automatically update to reflect the selected shipping method.
Free Local Pickup
If Free Local pickup is selected, or Free Local Pickup is the only shipping method available, shipping fees will be removed from the checkout page. The buyer is responsible for arranging a suitable date and time to pickup their lot(s).
After payment has been made, the selected shipping method can be viewed on the invoice. If Free Local pickup was selected, or was the only shipping method available, the top of the invoice will display "Local Pickup".
Self-Arranged Private/Common Carrier
If either Self-Arranged Private Carrier or Self-Arranged Common Carrier are selected, shipping fees will be removed from the checkout page. The buyer is responsible for contacting a shipper, arranging the collection of items won, and paying for those services directly with the third-party shipper.
After payment has been made, the selected shipping information can be viewed on the invoice. If either Self-Arranged Private Carrier or Self-Arranged Common Carrier are selected, the top of the invoice will display the buyer's shipping address.
Contact the auction house directly with any specific shipping questions or to make any specific shipping arrangements.
Arranged By Auction House
If Arranged By Auction House is selected, or is the only shipping method available, shipping fees will be automatically calculated and included on the checkout page. The seller may provide the winning bidder with shipment tracking information.
After payment has been made, the selected shipping information can be viewed on the invoice. If Arranged By Auction House was selected, or was the only shipping method available, the top of the invoice will display the buyer's shipping address.
Shipping Times
Many factors can play into how quickly a shipped item is received (ex. shipping method or distance).
Bank Transfer (ACH) funds can take as long as 5-7 business days to clear. This could result in longer shipping or pickup times for items purchased using this payment method, as most auction houses do not ship or release items until funds have been received.
If "Arranged By Auction House" is the selected shipping method, the seller may provide winning bidders with shipment tracking information.
If a bidder feels their item is taking too long to receive, they will need to contact the seller directly to get the status of their purchase/shipment.
Updating a Shipping Address
Bidders have the option to edit their shipping address on the checkout page prior to paying.
- Click the Edit Address link to the right of the current shipping address.
- Enter the new shipping address and then click the Update Shipping Address button.
- The new shipping address will now display on the checkout page.
- If any sales tax being applied is based on the buyers' address, that sales tax amount will be updated in accordance with the state and local tax jurisdiction requirements. For more information, see atgPay: Sales Tax.
To make adjustments to the shipping address after paying an invoice, please contact the auction house directly.
